The Entrepreneurial Spirit

All these quotes in one way or another speak to the entrepreneurial spirit. There are many motivating factors to becoming an entrepreneur. Some of the most obvious are being your own boss, amassing wealth and maybe even the desire to create jobs. What ever the reason, it is still essential that one possesses the entrepreneurial spirit.

Many organisations attempt to profile an entrepreneur. Although I do concede that there are certain predispositions that make it more likely for one individual to be an entrepreneur than another, I still hold to the belief that anyone can catch the entrepreneurial spirit.

Like I have already alluded to, some catch it because they are born into an entrepreneurial family, some people just stumble upon it and lastly some develop it due to facing adversity. So what is the entrepreneurial spirit? I don’t think there is one clear answer to this question. I think the quotes in the pictures above give us a glimpse to what it is.

It is the intangible yet distinguishable will to carry on when everything and everybody recommends not to. It is not only the ability to identify a need or problem but also to have the will to do something about it. Because it cannot be bought or solicited easily the entrepreneurial spirit is special and coveted by many.

If you want to become an entrepreneur, I suggest you prepare yourself. Like I have already noted, one is able to cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit. Commit to starting something and seeing it through. Talk to people, share ideas and probably most important get a mentor that has done it before. If you are more present in the quest to becoming an entrepreneur you will be luckier than the rest.

Brace yourself and catch the entrepreneurial spirit!!

  1. So often we hear that the future lies in the hands of our youth. And in South Africa it is no news that the youth is the majority. It simply makes me wonder, just how can we ignite the masses to realize the fundamental importance of entrepreneurship? How do we make them realise that it is the key to unlocking the forthcoming reality of inhibited potential that will stare us blankly in the face if we allow the status-quo to continue to ripple through our nation? We simply have to find a way to light the flame of so many young minds who are uninformed or even oblivious to the force that beholds the spirit of entrepreneurship. Thank you Sbuthaa for this wonderful article, it has certainly reminded me of my purpose – of why I exist!

    • Wow Mishka… You have really given challenging words. I am inspired that there are young people like yourself that are conscious of the challenges we face but more importantly, identify entrepreneurship as one of the best solutions.
